Ralph Macchio signs on for YouTube Red series Cobra Kai
ABC News has just confirmed that actor Ralph Macchio will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso in the YouTube Red series “Cobra Kai”. According to the official press release, the series will take place 30 years after the events of the All Valley Karate Tournament seen in Karate Kid. Returning to their role as Cobra Kai bully Johnny Lawrence will be William Zabka.
A down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, reigniting his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi
The show is about two men addressing past demons and present frustrations the only way they know how: through karate
Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg will write the series. Heald is the man behind hits like “Hot Tub Time Machine,” while Hurwitz and Schlossberg are known for “Harold & Kumar.”
Pat Morita who played Mr. Miyagi passed away in 2005.
Cobra Kai will be released on YouTube Red in 2018

The Karate Kid is a 1984 American martial arts drama film produced by Jerry Weintraub, directed by John G.
